Before Intravenous Anesthesia Instructions

• You can not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for six (6) hours prior to the appointment.


• A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.


• The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.


• Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes. Do not wear contacts, make-up, or jewelry.


• Do not miss normal daily medications prescribed by your physician. If you take any medications in the morning, please ask Dr. Thurgood prior to taking them and if Dr. Thurgood has instructed you to continue with your morning dose then you may take it with a small sip of water.
